Serving God in every season of your life

What is it about good weather that just lifts the spirit? This morning I had to get my boys ready for ‘Forest School’ and I was so happy to see no rain, just sunshine for them all day long. I know some people might feel it is too hot when it is 28 degrees Celsius but for me that is just right!

We can look at the weather and learn from every season that we are in, what God wants to teach us from nature.

Autumn, how colourful and windy! This is the season that things get blown away. Dirt and dust gets blown away, leaves dropped to the ground, trees are cleaned to make way for the next season. In Winter, things look bare, almost dead, but you know that things are happening under the surface. Plants and flowers are lying dormant and nature is reserving their energy to be ready for the next season. Nature draws their energy from the ground, the foundation, as the outside is too cold. Then Spring, the start of new life, new flowers and things start to grow. You almost can’t believe it as winter looked absolutely dead! Then suddenly a burst of life, pushing through. Then comes Summer, hot and humid. But WOW, how we can play in summer. We can run through sprinklers, we can have fun and it looks like earth is having a party.

Just like the seasons, each of us can be in our own season. As a church we are in our own season as well, but we can learn from that season and still serve God in each season.

You might be in Autumn, where you feel you are being blown around. You are not sure where you are going. You don’t know why things are happening, but remember Jesus is in control. He is getting rid of things that will hold you back, cleaning things out for your good. In Psalm 51:10 (KJV) it says; ‘Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.’

You might be in Winter right now, where you feel ‘dead’. But remember to stay anchored on the foundation, Jesus Christ. A tree doesn’t survive the winter without healthy roots. Neither do we. Psalm 23:4 encourages us that; ‘Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.’

You might be in Spring, seeing some fruit and flowers springing up in your life. You are seeing life and it is wonderful. Continue to pray that the Holy Spirit will guide you during this time, so that you can bear fruit to His glory. John 15:8 (NIV) says; ‘This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.’

You might be in Summer, enjoying the great blessing from God. You are thankful for what God has done in your life. Continue to praise Him and worship Him as He has been so good to you. Remember all things good are from God, continue to praise His name. John 1:16 (NLT) says; ‘From his abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another.’

In every season in your life you can be anchored in Jesus Christ, serving Him and doing things to His glory. As a leadership team we feel that God is calling us into five areas to serve Him; Youth, Children, Prayer and Prophecy, Community engagement and Worship. Please pray into these five areas over the summer holidays, asking God to show you, in the season you are in, where God wants to use you?

Have a wonderful week!

I was convicted by the call to ensure we are serving each other regardless of our season throughout everyday life, and particularly those in similar seasons since we will most likely be going through the same seasons of life together. However, I regularly overlook different methods for serving or different needs since I don't have a craving for doing it. http://www.dissertationtime.co.uk

The post explores serving god in all seasons. It states that in each season in your life, you can be anchored in Jesus Christ, serving Him and doing things to His glory and you might be in Summer, enjoying the great blessing from God.
